Abstract
This community engagement activity was carried out at PPR Seri Sena, a public housing community in Kangar, Perlis, Malaysia, whose residents mainly rely on social assistance and have limited access to quality employment. The program, themed Technology-Based Social Innovation, Enhancing the Skills and Income of Home-Based Workers, was conducted on 13 April 2026 through a participatory approach involving the community as active subjects. Training covered digital literacy, social media marketing, marketplace utilization, and smartphone product photography, supported by a collaboration of higher education institutions from Indonesia and Malaysia. Results show improved digital and micro-business skills among participants, particularly in leveraging technology to increase income and access better products and services. The activity supports Sustainable Development Goals 1 (No Poverty) and 17 (Partnerships) and highlights the importance of sustainable, technology-based human resource capacity building for home-based workers.
